Do you run Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder?

Not for this kind of night, no. We’ve run both for our own gaming groups over the years and had a great time doing it — but they’re built for long campaigns, and they lean hard on dice mechanics.

We’d rather the dice didn’t tell the story. We want the people at the table shaping it, through their characters’ choices and motivations. So we use narrative, story-focused systems instead — or design our own.

If character-driven epic fantasy is what you’re after, we’ll happily run it. We’d just build it on a custom system tuned for character development and story, so the evening stays in the drama rather than in a rulebook.

Do we need any experience?

None — and the reason is simpler than it sounds. Everybody enjoys a good story; it’s about as human as it gets. That instinct is the only thing you need to bring.

Your character is written for you, every rule is taught at the table, and there’s nothing to read beforehand. Most of our guests have never played anything like this before. Ten minutes in, they stop wondering whether they’re doing it right.

How many people do we need?

Four is enough for a Quick Play one-shot — two couples, or a small group of friends. Our written one-shot worlds are built for six. Social deduction nights hit their stride from about eight and scale comfortably to twenty. Full productions are built for twelve or more.

How long does a night run?

It depends what you pick — so every game on this site is marked with clocks. The more clocks, the longer the night.

• 2–3 hours — a shorter session for a small group, easy to do after dinner.
• 3–5 hours — a social deduction or murder mystery night.
• 4–6 hours — a full one-shot at the table.
• 6–8 hours — a full live-action production.

These are the shapes we’ve settled into, not rules. Where a game shows faded clocks its length is flexible — the solid clocks are the short version, the faded ones show how much longer it can run. If you have a hard stop, tell us and we’ll cut the story to fit it.

Do you come to us?

Yes — your home, your office, or your event. If you need a space, we’ll help you find one. We cover the greater San Francisco Bay Area, and we’re happy to talk about travel further afield case by case.

What does a night of gaming usually cost?

Every event is quoted individually — the examples below come from nights we’ve actually run, to give you a rough sense of scale. Yours may land above or below.

• A Quick Play eveningFour or five players, two to three hours, at your place. Usually $125.
• A social deduction eveningAround 10 guests, three to five hours, at your place. Nights like this have typically run $150–200.
• A one-shot for sixFour to six hours, a written scenario, two Storytellers, at your place. Usually $200–250.
• A full production12+ guests, improv actors, character kits and costumes, six to eight hours. Quoted individually — performer fees, venue and catering vary with the cast and the space.

If you’d like us to find a venue or arrange catering, those are booked separately and billed at cost. We confirm everything in writing before you commit to anything.

How far in advance should we book?

A few weeks is comfortable for a one-shot or a social deduction night. Full productions need longer — we’re casting performers and building materials, so give us a couple of months where you can.

Can you build something custom?

Yes, and it’s some of our favorite work. Bring us a genre, a setting, an occasion, or a story you’ve always wanted to play, and we’ll build the night around it. You can be as hands-on in the writing as you like.
